Background Information
The Turks & Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands are situated 575 miles south-east of Miami. The country consists of two island groups separated by the 22 mile wide Columbus Passage. To the west are the Caicos Group: West Caicos, Providenciales, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, East Caicos and South Caicos. To the east are the Turks Group: Grand Turk and Salt Cay. The Turks and Caicos Islands total some 166 square miles of land on eight islands and 40 small cays. The Islands population is approximately 14,000. In common with most of the Caribbean, the Turks and Caicos have superb beaches, fishing, sailing and diving. The islands remain intimate and uncommercialised.
Providenciales, more commonly known as "Provo", covers an area of 38 miles and is the most developed island in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Providenciales offers all modern conveniences including casino and golf club. The barrier reef that surrounds Providenciales offers some of the best scuba experiences in the world. It also has a beach (Grace Bay) that was recently voted one of the top five beaches of the World. British Sunday Times
