trees, undulating fairways and an assortment of bird life, make this course
well worth a visit! One will struggle for birdie opportunities With 2
par 5's well over the 500m mark, and 3rd at 496 meter's. The hustle and

Dainfern
Country Club
Gary Player, in construction of this course, has used the Jukskei River
and valley to base his design on here. Much emphasis gone on the natural
hazards linked with interesting waterholes and large undulating greens.
The course keeps its lush green colour, while the rest of the province
turns brown due to the dry winter months. The river must be crossed twice
on the 17th par 5, eventually forming the final hurdle on the edge of
the green.
Distance: 6646
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Driving range, practice tee and putting greens

Royal Johannesburg
Golf Club
The East course, built in 1933, is a favourite of Gary Player who won 3
South African Open Championships here in 1972, 1977 and 1981. A natural
meandering stream, traditional English bunkers with high faces (106 in total!)
and fine white sands define the course. 100 year old trees conclude the
distinguished re of this course. The 10 th and 11th holes are regarded as
the largest back to back par 4's in the world ( 448 and 415 )
Distance: 6387
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Practice tee and putting green
Hire facilities: Drive carts, caddies and intuition

Glendower
Golf Club
In 1973, Glendower was proclaimed a nature reserve, with its heavily wooded
parklands, lush vegetation and enormous variety of bird life. The course
was voted within the top 5 in South Africa in the last 10 years and has
hosted the South African Open on three occasions. The 2 nd hole par 5
may find emotion in the most controlled of players. Having teed of over
a dam, a narrow fairway introduces water just left of the green. Accuracy
is the key.
Distance: 6770
Par: 72
Practicing facilities: Putting green, chip area
Hire facilities: Dive carts, caddies & tuition

Pecanwood
The course, opened in the May of 1996, was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The planting of 6000 indigenous trees and the creation of lakes and wetlands
have resulted in a course surrounded by wild life. The fairways offer
wide open space for mis-hit shots but generally small greens and 4.5 hectares
of bunkers make nothing a certainty. The design of this course allows
one to track the route of ones shot.
Distance: 6280
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Drive range, putting green & chipping area.
Hire facilities: Drive carts, trolleys and tuition

Killarney
Golf Club
Opened in 1929, Killarney Golf Club was developed in connection with the
Automobile Association, who used it as there pass time to the motoring
industry. The course was redisgned in the 1960's and is only now reaching
its potential with the maturing of the surroundings and in particular
the tree's. The course is quite demanding in length, as three of the par-3's
are over 170 metres long. The 14th requires a particuliarly precise shot
over water and on to a sloping green, that in turn is protected by bunkers
to the left and to the right.
Distance: 6404
Par: 70
Hire facilities: Drive carts, caddies, tuition
Practice facilities: Practice tee, putting & chipping greens.

course has featured the 'Two Million Dollar Challenge', since 1982. Winner's
including Langer, Ballesteros and Price. This course has consistently provided
the World's Best Golfer's,a testing time, particuliarly when they play off
the back markers. In doing, so the course becomes one of the longest in the
world, but is more user-friendly to the club golfer and yet very challenging.

Lost
City Golf Club
An opening nine holes very much in 'Desert Style', and a back nine in
'Out of Africa', this course you will find very hard to forget. Designed
by Gary Player in 1993, this course over time will progressively improve.
On the 10th hole, he has left a tree in the middle of the fairway and
at the next, a string of bunkers disecting the fairway, just where a good
drive would land. The par- 3, 13th sums up this course. The green is shaped
in the African continent, and is surrounded by three large bunkers, which
are filled with different coloured sands, symbolising the different combination
of people in this country.
Distance: 6983
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Drive range, practice tee, chip & putt area's
Hire facilities: Drive carts, caddies and tuition
