Garden
Route
Plettenberg
Bay Country Club
This golf course is set in the stunning Piesang valley, which is a nature
reserve and extremely rich in wild life. The Club House overlooks the
valley, and the opening holes take you down hill only for the finishing
holes to do the opposite. The 14th features "the policeman", two oak trees
that frequently trap wayward drivers. You either stay wide or play short,
but are then left with a risky option of playing the ball over the top.
Distance: 5930
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Pitch and putt greens
Hire facilities: Drive carts, caddies, trolleys

Fancourt
At the heart of the "Garden Route" lies Fancourt which has established
itself as one of South Africa's premier destinations. Sitting at the foot
of the Outeniqua Mountains, now lies three excellent courses. Two of these,
Montague & Outeniqua have brilliant putting surfaces and immaculate fairways.
The third having just opened, has been designed similar to a Scottish
"links" course. Fancourt has undaunting potential on a World-Wide scale, which
in turn can only help to develop South Africa into one of the world's
most popular venue's.
All courses have been designed by Gary Player.

Fancourt
- Outeniqua Golf Course
Outeniqua
is the native for "land of milk and honey", and couldn't describe this
course in a more fitting way. The short downhill par 3 at the 6th hole
is one of its most challenging holes while the back half of the green
is surrounded by a lake….be careful not to hit the ducks. The 18th finishes
off an enjoyable round of golf, where a green is protected by a horseshoe
of water and large bunkers at the back.
Distance: 6320
Par 72Practice facilities: Driving range (…with free balls!), putting
and chipping areas and a reputable golf school
Hire facilities: Drive carts, trolleys, caddies and tuition

Fancourt
- Montagu Golf club
Intimidation
from the very start. The view from the 18th tee has residential housing
either side of the fairway and also a large bunker on the right. Throw
in some bunkers around the narrow green, and just hope you are hitting
the ball well. To finish of this superb course are two excellent holes,
the 17th similar to that of Augustas 12th hole. One has to play over a
lake onto a green that slopes back down to the waters edge. Go to far
and sand awaits, if that's not enough the final green has a horse shoe
of water awaiting the thirsty golfer.

Fancourt
- Links
Gary
Player's latest designed course at Fancourt, resembles what you expect
to find along the coastline's of Scotland. This Link's style course, will
give the South African's an opportunity to play and understand the challenge
of courses, such as Turnberry,Carnoustie and St.Andrew's. With hole name's
as 'Lang Drap', 'Sheer Murrder',and to finish off the round 'Near the
Dram',the scottish appeal is very evident. The 15th, offers up a 'watery'
challenge, as the green is protected on three sides, so don't stray from
the hole. One will find this an exciting but tough
challenge.
Distance: 6154
Par: 72
Practice facilities: Driving range (at GolfSchool), putting greens
