Royal Cape Golf Club
The Royal Cape Golf Club, built in 1885 by Sir Henry D'oyley Torrens, was officially the first ever golf course in South Africa. Nine South African Opens have been held here with winners including Gary Player (1965) and Ernie Els (1996). Els posting an incredible 18 Under par total of 270. The South Easterly, known as the "Cape Doctor" blows across the course, increasing the challenge of the course. The 15th hole offers up the last short challenge before heading on the long straight back to the club-house. The green is protected well by water, bunkers and out of bounds. Fortune, for those who manage to land on the bridge and get a kind bounce on to the putting surface.

Steenberg Golf Club

In the heart of the Constantia Valley, Steenberg is the most recently built course in Cape Town. The course works its way through the vineyards of the oldest wine farm in South Africa. Steenberg is renowned for its greens, particularly the 14th hole. It boasts the largest green in Africa - 72 meters from back to front. The finale to the course is in stunning surroundings. A mountain stream winds its way through the fairway, shadowed by a vast array of oak trees. As one approaches the excellent facilities of the club house, one will remember this testing course.

Stellenbosch Golf Club
Known for its University, surrounded by the winelands and under the gaze of the magnificent Simonsberg Mountains, the Stellenbosch golf club's positioning couldn't be more perfect. The lining of the trees, along the golf course, gives one an impression that this challenge is quite narrow. On the 8th,known as "Snakes and Grapes", slice or hook and you will find where this name originates from. Leaving a straight shot the only option.

Erinvale Golf Club
To the East lie the Hottentots Holland Mountain Range.
To the North, the majestic Helderberg.
To the South-East the Indian Ocean and to the South the Vergelegen Vineyard Estate.
Not surprisingly this was the perfect venue for the 1996 World Cup of Golf Tournament, won by Ernie Els and Wayne Webster. The first nine bring you across a variation of bunker styles.
"Sod" bunkers similar to that of St. Andrew's 17th & Bunkers lined with railway sleepers increase the challenge of the course.

Clovelly Country Club
Described as one of the Cape Peninsula's hidden treasure's, it is situated between the Atlantic Ocean (to the West) and the Indian Ocean (to the East). The vantage point, of the excellent club house, overlooks the 1st, 10th and 18th. From there one will notice the accuracy demands on this narrow course. Also adding its own challenge is the wind, especially during the summer months. The 9th hole is regarded as one of the toughest par 5"s in the Cape. Problems on the fairway are then rewarded with a sloping green, making par an excellent score.
Distance: 5908
Par: 73
Practice facilities: Practice tee, chipping and putting area
Hire facilities: Drive carts, caddies, tuition

arabella golf courseArabella Golf Course

The course is 6,095 metres in length and has a rating of 72. It borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and the 18th runs parallel to the lagoon. The clubhouse at the hotel is considered to be one of the most luxurious and modern in the country.
At this stage selecting a signature hole is an almost impossible task - take your pick, there are so many possibilities, however the 17th par three rates as one of the all-time best holes and as one of the best par three's ever.
