Algarve - Golf Resort Carvoeira

This luxury golf and leisure resort lies in tranquil, open countryside near the picturesque fishing village of Praia do Carvoeiro. Occupying a total area of 500 acres, the resort has two magnificent golf courses, the Vale da Pinta and Quinta do Gramacho courses as well as a range of luxury villas for sale. The Pinta course is a par 71, 18 hole championship course rated in the top 40 golf courses in Europe. The Gramacho course is a unique double nine hole course with 18 full size greens.
Both courses were designed by the American golf architect Robert Fream who achieved his aim of highlighting the natural beauty of the area by blending the courses into the gently undulating landscape.

A feature of the two courses are the olive groves bordering the fairways with many trees well over 600 years old. Gramacho and Pinta are two courses that provide a challenging round for the low handicap player as well as great enjoyment for the holiday golfer.
Driving Range: 60 Bays, putting green, short game facility for chipping and bunker practice.

Golf Simulator
Play some of the world's most famous Golf Courses with your own clubs at the Pestana Carlton Alvor Hotel.

Driving, chipping, putting and even those annoying bunker shots!! You'll hear and see your ball actually bounce off trees, splash into water or hit cart paths. When your shot lands in the cup, for a hole-in-one, simulation becomes a reality.

Vale da Pinta
Vale da Pinta is a championship course, within the Carvoeiro Golf Resort, with an exceptional layout designed by Ron Fream, of Golfplan USA, and opened in 1992.

The course has earned an excellent reputation because of its excellent condition and its ability to challenge golfers of all standards. The fairways with Bermuda grass and the Pen Cross Bent greens are protected by sand bunkers which are excellently positioned. The course also has two ornamental lakes which are in play on four holes and an array of Fig, Almond, Carob, and Olive trees some of which are up to 600 years old.

The dogleg shape of all the par 4 and 5 holes puts an emphasis on the ability to drive with accuracy.

The size of the greens are well matched to the length of the approach shot. This 6.151 metres, par 71 course, will be appreciated by all golfers.

Quinta do Gramacho
On Quinta do Gramacho, within the Carvoeiro Golf Resort, Ron Fream has created a unique concept of 18 greens, 18 tees and 9 fairways.
The design skill which has gone into the creation of the green positions and the protective bunkering is such, that an 18 hole round gives 18 genuinely different challenges. The positioning of the tee markers helps to increase the variety even more.

As with the Pinta Course, the preparation and conditions is at tournament standard year round.
The use of existing features of the land, outcrops of rock, dry stone walls, fig, almond, carob and olive trees, have been augmented by well positioned bunkers and lakes. These hazards, combined with the shaping of the fairways and greens, have produced a wonderful array of challenging but fair golf holes. From the first tee shot to the pitch to the final green, the player must not only strike the ball
and putt well, but also use the best strategy, to produce a good score. Experienced golfers will certainly acknowledge that they played a very fine golf course with a testing par of 72 and more than sufficient length at 5.919 metres.
